Another big THANK YOU to all the scanning volunteers who’ve helped the Visualising the Archaeology of Gwynedd project between Bangor University and Gwynedd Archaeological Trust make over 16,500 archaeological images turn digital over the past couple of years.
Volunteers aren’t paid not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.
This project certainly wouldn’t have got as far as it has without all the hard work of our dedicated volunteers. It may not be exciting archaeology (although I might disagree!), but scanning and adding metadata to images is essential if we’re to use the resources and records we’ve already created.
Today on the #dayofarch like any other day I’ve managed to get on with other tasks because someone else decided to take time out from their busy lives to volunteer in the name of archaeology.
Sometimes they might dig, other times they might scan or type – it all helps! No job is too small, no time to short and no task is too much.
Volunteers in Archaeology – I salute you…. we all salute you!!
