The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) holds over 5 million drawings, photographs, negatives and manuscripts relating to Scotland’s archaeology, buildings and maritime heritage, and, through the National Collection of Aerial Photography, over 20 million aerial images of locations around the world. Our searchable website Canmore provides information on more than 300,000 places in Scotland, with over 150,000 digital images.
This year, RCAHMS staff want to use our Collection to highlight archaeology from across Scotland, selecting each council and a specific site or landscape within that area.
We’ve staff from across the organisation discussing their chosen archaeology from each area, but why not let us know your favourite sites using our hashtag #myarchaeology and share with us your stories and photographs. You can even upload your images and information to our database using MyCanmore.
Follow us as we’ll be uploading our staff contributions throughout the day!
